Yo Paro, Yo Produzco by Henry Guiza

The national strike 21N was a succession of “social demonstrations held in Colombia non-consecutively, in many cities of the country between November 2019 and feb 2020”. It was summoned at the beginning of November 2019 by different opposition sectors- later grouped in so-called “Comité Nacional de Paro”- to oppose the economic, social and environmental policies of the government of Ivan Duque, as well as the handling that would have been given to peace accords with the FARC-EP, the murder of social leaders (peasants, indigenous peoples and ex-guerrillas), and cases of corruption in the leadership of the resources for public education. Henry Güiza’s typographic compositions respond to this social-political movement and were assembled with three fonts developed in 2019 by Tangrams Design Studio, inspired by the work of Colombian visual artist Antonio Caro. Paraphrasing Nicolás Consuegra in the prologue of the book.
