This collection is an effort between Letra Muerta Inc and The Waraq Collective to curate circulating + rare materials for institutions and libraries for broader access. It comprises a total of 10 publications and books, 15 broadsides and small prints, including some ephemera, 5 “notebooks” or participative artist books, and 3 oversized botanical prints (19x27 inches). Most materials are numbered or rare. These items were produced at Beit Waraq, Beirut, Lebanon. Languages include Arabic and English. Types of printing: silkscreen, Xerox, Riso, hot-stamping, linocut, among others.

Most of the books in the collection document issues within the landscape of Lebanon, different parts of the SWANA region, and political affairs that are part of the local imaginary through culture in different media. For example, Another Shaved Head is a collaboration between Omar Abd ElBaky and Omar Bahig, a body of work during their service in the Egyptian Armed Forces.

Waraq is an artist-led non-profit organization based in Beirut, Lebanon. Founded in 2012, it is committed to the support of graphic art practices through education, research, production, and publishing.

They also host Beit Waraq, a community and a production space with a range of printmaking facilities. The space is a house located in a decentralized neighborhood of Beirut. It was established in 2012 to facilitate and assist in production, fostering critical thinking, and engaging in research within the community of graphic arts.

The price reflected is for institutions and helps finance the collective's activities, publications, and programming.  If you wish to purchase any item as an individual, you can reach out to the collective. We also host some of these materials in our reading room if students want to come and consult them for free. The collection comes catalogued, described, and with digital images for reference.
